1. Opposite palmately lobed (3 lobes) leaves

2. Glands on petiole below leaf (distinguishes from Viburnum acerifolium)

3. Pubescent leaf underside & veins (distinguishes from Viburnum sargentii)

4. Suffered extensive aphid infestation in early spring….common in opulus

1. Opposite, simple, coarsely dentate leaves

2. Very straight, glabrous stems w/frequent suckers from base
